Michael Lynn Bower, 65, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Columbus, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Bower was born May 1, 1952, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Robert and Edith Neal Bower.

Mr. Bower served with the Security Police in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.

He was a self-employed carpenter and a musician and had a passion for riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his son, Jeremiah (Alicia) Bower of Bloomington, Indiana; his companion, Joy Carman of Judah, Indiana; Joy’s children, Shanon Carman of Columbus, Indiana and Arron Gonzalas of Judah, Indiana; grandchildren, Tre, Makenzi, and Silas Bower, Blythe and Clara Carman, and Shaylin Gonzalas; a nephew, Chris Bower of Scipio, Indiana; and a niece, Mikal Zumhingst of Norman, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Penny; brothers, Bill and Jim Bower; and his grandparents who raised him, Arthur and Violet Bower.

In keeping with Mr. Bower’s wishes, cremation is planned. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
