State senator begins bid for U.S. Congress

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield state lawmaker has launched his campaign for for U.S. Congress.

State Sen. Mike Crider, R-Greenfield, announced Wednesday that he is joining the race to represent Indiana’s sixth congressional district in Washington, D.C., which includes Bartholomew County.

Indiana’s 6th District includes 19 counties, from Delaware County on the north end, to Jefferson and Switzerland counties to the south.

Crider seeks to replace Rep. Luke Messer, who plans to run for United States Senate, as Indiana’s sixth district congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Before being elected to the Indiana Senate in 2012, Crider spend 30 years working as an officer for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
