The 13th annual Ganesh Festival: Omkar 2017, a free gathering mixing culture from India with elements of the Hindu faith, is underway at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in Columbus. The annual gathering typically attracts 800 to 1,000 people to events during four days of activities.

Sunday’s opening day included everything: an Indian cooking competition; a demonstration of mehendi, the decorative Indian body art; and children’s outdoor games. It continued Friday and concludes today and Sunday, with the following schedule:

» 10 a.m. today. Special programming: Cultural program, with Indian food available for purchase, 5 to 7 p.m.; Aarta (chanting prayer), 7 to 8:30 p.m.

» 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Special programming: Children’s cultural program, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Procession from The Commons to Mill Race Park, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
