Jaylen Flemmons

Jaylen Flemmons, Columbus North senior football player

Flemmons caught 10 passes for 176 yards in Friday’s 34-17 win at Columbus East. He also had one carry for four yards and completed 1-of-2 passes for 17 yards.

His performance last week: “I feel like I did pretty well. I just tried to do my best.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I’ll go get a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie and come back early to get taped up.”

Favorite drink: “Lemonade”

Favorite food: “Pasta”

Role model: “My grandpa (Ronnie Warren)”

Best advice: “You can’t be too down on a loss, and you can’t be too up on a win.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Hawaii, because it looks like a really nice place, and it looks like it would be fun to go to.”

Sydney Schoen

Sydney Schoen, Hauser senior volleyball player

Schoen recorded a combined 42 kills, 90 digs and 13 aces to lead the Jets to a 5-1 record in six matches last week.

Her performance last week: “I feel like it was a good week for me, along with the team. We had some really good wins.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Normally, I take a nap before the game, and then in the locker room, everybody gets pumped up.”

Favorite drink: “Water”

Favorite food: “Pasta”

Favorite book: “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Favorite class: “Advanced PE.”

Role model: “My parents (Jerry and Becky Schoen).”

Best advice: “Never give up.”

Athletics goal: “Win conference and get as far in the postseason as we possibly can and then play well in college (at Eastern Kentucky).”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Greece, just because I think it’s pretty.”
