BOYS SOCCER

North posts shutout

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North picked up its first Conference Indiana win of the season Thursday night, a 3-0 decision at Franklin Central.

Alex McGill scored the first goal off an assist from Finn Anderson for the Bull Dogs (3-2, 1-1). Axel Arroyo then scored off another assist from Anderson to give North a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Bull Dogs added their final tally in the second half when Sotaro Kaneda scored off an assist from McGill.

Noah Kestler played the first 75 minutes in goal and recorded five saves. Colvin Iorio played the final five minutes and posted one save.

GIRLS GOLF

East rolls to victory

Lily Shelp and Autumn Fateley tied for medalist honors with 44s to lead Columbus East to a 212-186 win against Shelbyville.

Lauren Steinwedel and Morgan Harrison each shot 49 for the Olympians. Kati Brunn added a 53, and Ellie Buntin had a 55.

Pirates topple Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County was a shot better than it was a night earlier, but fell to Greensburg 180-231 at St. Annes.

Sydney Campbell led the Panthers with a 46. Allie Clark carded a 50, Destiny Joray added a 58, Rachel Greene shot 59 and Annie Ertel had a 61.

Lancers fall on tiebreaker

CLAYTON — Edinburgh tied Monrovia with a 202 at Deer Creek, but the Bulldogs won on the fifth-score tiebreaker. Greenwood Christian Academy finished third with a 219.

Vanessa McManaway won medalist honors with a 45 to lead the Lancers. Kenzie Hill carded a 50, Savannah Kellams added a 52, Morgan Calhoun shot 55, Kierra Richards had a 61 and Maddy Giles finished with a 62.

Bull Dogs down Flashes

INDIANAPOLIS — Perry Meridian won the No. 1 singles match, but 23rd-ranked Columbus North rolled at the other four positions for a 4-1 Conference Indiana win.

Joey Zhao blanked David Seals 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Akshaya Sabapathy beat Tya Thang 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (5-0, 3-0). Isaac Jackson and Ben Mathew downed Michael Kendall and David Meng 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Chris Ruble and Adam Saad topped Nick Huckelberry and Ras Dheer 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

North’s Kevin Lin fell to Sajin Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Panthers stop Olympians

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against Jennings County.

Weston Miller beat Jackson Stevens 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Thomas Schuler downed Luke Miller 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Wyatt St. John topped Pranav Kumar 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (3-4).

Jennings’ Kent Biehle and Justin Cooper beat Bryce Buening and Nathan Hatchett 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Briar Davis and Cody St. John downed Jalen Pleak and Caige Comstock 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

The Olympians fell to 2-6.

Jets blank Braves

TRAFALGAR — Hauser rolled to its sixth consecutive win, a 5-0 triumph at Indian Creek.

Sam Meek beat Scott Russell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Justin Compton downed Marius Lang 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Sean Miller topped Jake Mitchell 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (6-1).

Jacob Johnson and Alex Gross beat Kyle Lime and Cody Hart 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Jacob Rudd and Ethan Wallace downed Dustin Hamblen and Hunter Ackney 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers nip Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Edinburgh pulled out a three-set win at No. 3 singles to claim a 3-2 win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Coltan Henderson beat 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, and Ryan Gaston downed Nick Robinson 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers. Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton topped Connor Rowe and Becklan Pappano 7-6 (0), 7-6 (2) at No. 2 doubles.

Edinburgh’s Gabe Wilson fell to Anthony Atwood 6-0, 6-0 3 at No. 2 singles. Bladen Hancock and Brayden McManaway lost to Eric Emerick and Ryan Brockman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Jets rout Hilltoppers

HOPE — Hauser had little trouble in rolling to a 25-7, 25-9, 25-9 against Madison Shawe.

Alana Owen recorded 25 assists and three aces, and Hannah Johnson had four blocks and three aces to lead the Jets (11-2). Madie Sherman pounded eight kills and Sarah Tedder notched eight digs.

Sydney Schoen pounded seven kills, and Johnson added six. Aunaka Wasil tallied four assists, Taylor Henderson had two blocks, Melanie Taylor and Kylie Lock each notched six digs and Lock served two aces.

Crusaders win in four

MADISON — Columbus Christian bounced back from a third-set defeat to finish off a 25-21, 25-6, 15-25, 25-12 win at Madison Christian.

Grace Lorimor led the Crusaders (8-1) with eight kills and seven assists and also had seven aces. Kayla Jones served nine aces to go along with four assists, and Savannah Herron added eight aces

Morgan Hunnicutt tallied seven kills, four assists and one block. Hannah Stair notched three digs.

Eagles sweep Cougars

GREENSBURG — Brown County picked up its fourth consecutive win, a 25-15, 25-13, 25-9 victory at South Decatur.

Abby Hollander led the Eagles (5-2) with nine service points. Maggie Redmond added eight.

Madison Owens pounded three kills, Whitnye Burton recorded four assists, Sam Goodfellow had one block, Zoey Nobbe tallked 14 digs and Taylor Best served one ace to lead the Cougars (1-10)

Lancers rally for victory

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh overcame a two-set deficit to claim a 9-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-15, 15-10 win against Southwestern (Shelby).

The Lancers improved to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference.

Panthers fall in four

SEYMOUR — After dropping the first two sets, Jennings County came up with the third, but Seymour finished off a 25-21, 25-17, 15-25, 25-21 win.

The Panthers fell to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the Hoosier Hills Conference.

Warriors defeat Trinity

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran ran into one of the state’s top small schools and fell to Christian Academy of Indiana 25-22, 25-17, 25-18.

Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars (5-5) with eight kills and two aces. Abby Hackman added six kills, and Abby Schult had three kills.
