North JV downs Olympians

The Columbus North junior varsity football team improved to 2-0 with a 21-12 win against Columbus East.

Michael Johnson, Hunter Huser and Dylan England ran for touchdowns for the Bull Dogs.

Cole Gilley threw touchdown passes of 12 yards to Zander Gentry and 25 yards to Zach Pierce for the Olympians (1-1).

East’s Tyler Settle had an interception.

Owls blank Panthers

The Jennings County seventh-graders lost to Seymour 6-0 Thursday.

The Panthers fell to 0-4.

BOYS TENNIS

Spartans top Chargers

Northside Middle School swept the singles matches Thursday en route to a 4-1 win against Central.

Nathan Lin, Matthew Liu and Ronit Jha won singles matches for the Spartans. Ben Genter and Darren Li took a doubles match.

Northside won the JV match 3-2.

CROSS-COUNTRY

St. Peters takes second

The St. Peters boys and girls both finished second in Monday’s Middle School Seymour Invitational.

Austin won the boys meet with 41 points, while St. Peters finished with 59 and Seymour edged Jennings County 72-74 for third. Seymour took the girls meet with 26 points to 64 for St. Peters, 98 for Bedford and 110 for Jennings.

Will Baker led the St. Peters boys with a third-place finish in 11 minutes, 13 seconds for 3,000 meters (1.9 miles). J.T. Kuhlman took fifth in 11:18, while Nathan Wettschurak was eighth (11:25), Tyler Blythe 19th (12:16) and Mateo Mendez 20th (12:19).

Jennings’ Lane Elsner won the boys race in 10:56. Eli Wahlman finished 16th in 12:03, while Chaz Newman was 18th (12:09), Ian Campbell 19th (12:14) and Dalton Fletcher 20th (12:16).

Chloe Krueger finished second in 12:28 to lead the St. Peters girls. Lily Baker took fourth in 12:56, while Abigail Jacob was 15th (14:05), Hayden Carothers 21st (14:43) and Riley Carothers 22nd (14:50).

Katie Gasper led Jennings with a 14th-place finish in 13:55. Taylor Leak took 16th in 14:28, while Mary Gasper was 18th (14:34), Halle Franks 20th (14:42) and Kelly Gasper 43rd (17:07).

On Thursday, the Jennings boys and girls both finished second in the Southwestern (Hanover) Invitational. Austin won the boys meet with 37 points to 65 for the Panthers, while Switzerland County took the girls meet with 35 points to 65 for Jennings.

Elsner won the boys race in 11:15. Wahlman finished 15th in 12:31, while Newman was 16th (12:32), Campbell 18th (12:42) and Fletcher 19th (12:44).

Katie Gasper led the Panther girls with a second-place finish in 13:57. Mary Gasper took fourth in 14:19, while Franks was eighth (14:28), Macy Addis 20th (15:40) and Leak 31st (16:57).

VOLLEYBALL

Panther teams win twice

The Jennings County eighth-grade White and seventh-grade White teams both went 2-0 last week.

The eighth-graders (5-5) beat South Decatur 25-5, 25-14 and Southwestern (Hanover) 25-21, 16-25, 15-13. Halle Boardman served six aces against South Decatur, and Lucy Ernstes had five aces against Southwestern.

The seventh-graders (7-3) beat South Decatur 25-15, 25-13 and Southwestern 19-25, 25-12, 15-5. Stella Millspaugh served seven aces against South Decatur and 14 aces against Southwestern.

The Panther eighth-grade Blue team (0-4) fell to Lutheran Central 25-3, 25-12 and Crothersville 25-21, 25-18. Emily Lane pounded one kill, Nicole Beavers had three digs and Isa Rodriguez served two aces against Lutheran Central. Beavers recorded a dig, and Braylee Moore served three aces against Crothersville.

The seventh-grade Blue team fell to 0-3 with a 25-4, 25-9 loss to Lutheran Central.
