Athletes of the Week

MALE

Landon Cambridge, Brown County senior soccer player

Cambridge scored nine goals last week, including seven in two games Saturday in the Hoosier Cup. He netted two goals in a 3-1 win at Edgewood, two more in Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Center Grove JV and all five of his team’s goals in Saturday’s 5-2 win against Evansville North.

His performance last week: “All of us as a team played significantly better (against Evansville North). It just was a really good game for all of us. I just felt like I played better than I have in all the seasons I’ve played.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “We have a routine that the whole team goes through, but if we have extra time beforehand like we did at the Hoosier Cup, I will listen to music and work with the ball. I don’t do much shooting to warm up because I don’t shoot from far out much. I work on my speed to get around defenders.”

Favorite drink: “Fairlife chocolate milk”

Favorite food: “Lipton’s cheddar broccoli cheesy rice with grilled chicken”

Favorite book: “The Circque du Freak series”

Favorite class: “AP Chemistry”

Role model: “My older brother, Oliver”

Best advice: “Live life to the fullest, and never let an opportunity pass.”

Athletics goal: “My athletic goal for this year was to reach a 300-pound bench press, and for the end of soccer season is to get the top goal scorer or MVP award for the team.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Germany, because my dad traveled there.”

FEMALE

Nathaly Munnicha, Columbus North freshman golfer

Munnicha went under par in both of her matches last week. She fired a 3-under 34 in helping the Bull Dogs set a team school record in a win against Seymour at Shadowood, then won medalist honors with a 1-under 35 in a victory against Southport at Harrison Lake.

Her performance last week: “I feel really great that I played that well because I haven’t been playing that well lately. It’s starting to get where I want it.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually eat a snack, like maybe a granola bar before every round, and sometimes I drink Coke.”

Favorite food: “Oreos”

Favorite book: “The Selections.”

Favorite class: “Probably my math class”

Best advice: “Probably from my dad, just take it easy, and play it hole by hole, and don’t think about anything else.”

Athletics goal: “To try to shoot below 80 basically every time I play.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Hawaii because of the beaches.”
