Jenny’s Picks – September 7

1) My great passion in life is consumption, and two of my favorite forms of consumption are eating and shopping. How could I pass up the St. John’s Church-White Creek Annual Smorgasbord and Bazaar? Beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, 16270 S. County Road 300W in southern Bartholomew County, the event’s offerings will include baked ham, turkey and dressing, fresh corn and other sides and salads and desserts on the smorgasbord side, and handcrafted seasonal and quilted items, jewelry, woven rugs, homemade baked goods and noodles on the bazaar side. Information: 812-342-6832.

2) Year after year, fall remains my favorite season — and I love a good fall festival. In keeping with that love, I’m getting the St. Bartholomew Catholic School Fall Festival on my calendar. Set for 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 16, at 1306 27th St., this fest will feature carnival-like games for kids, a family fun jar game for kids and adults, bouncy houses and a straw maze, a variety of food available for purchase, a beer garden and a raffle for $2,000. Proceeds will benefit special PTO projects, including the new greenhouse.
