Columbus North dominates Anderson

ST. LEON — Finn Anderson scored a pair of first-half goals Monday night, and the Columbus North boys soccer team went on to post a 4-1 win at East Central.

Anderson scored off an assist from Andrew Potter in the 20th minute. Then, after the Trojans tied the game, Anderson scored off a pass from Jack Robertson in the 39th minute to give the Bull Dogs (6-4-1) a 2-1 halftime lead.

North extended the lead when Alex McGill scored off an assist from Robertson in the 47th minute. Graham Keele added the final goal off an assist from Todd Liggett in the 57th minute.

The Bull Dogs outshot East Central 14-10, putting eight shots on goal to four for the Trojans. Noah Kestler recorded three saves.

Salem stops Trinity

SEYMOUR — Salem scored two goals in the 69th minute to break a 1-1 tie and post a 3-1 win at Trinity Lutheran.

Noah Criswell scored off an assist from Andrew Emily for the Cougars (2-4-3), who were outshot 9-4. Jacob Keith posted six saves.

GIRLS GOLF

Panthers take third

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County finished third with a 216 in a tri match at St. Annes. Seymour edged Madison 181-184 for first.

Peyton Whitehead and Allie Clark each shot 52 to lead the Panthers. Sydney Campbell carded a 54, Destiny Joray added a 58, Annie Ertel had a 61 and Rachel Greene finished with a 64.

GIRLS SOCCER

Stars blank Eagles

NASHVILLE — Bedford North Lawrence scored a goal in each half to hand Brown County a 2-0 loss.

The Stars outshot the Eagles (4-6-1) 22-3. Skylar Fleischman recorded 20 saves.

BOYS TENNIS

Patriots edge Eagles

SPENCER — Brown County won a pair of three-set matches, but Owen Valley took the other three to claim a 3-2 Western Indiana Conference East Divison win.

Chase Watson beat Coy Byerly 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 at No. 1 singles, and Abe Oliver and Elijah Roush downed Drew Mauder and Keaton Ricichardson 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 at No. 1 doubles for the Eagles (1-10, 0-3).

Brown County’s Aaron McCann fell to Isaiah Johnson 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Aiden Burt lost to Rece Heckman 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Nathaniel Fox and Nolan Patterson fell to Logan Headlee and Colby Beckwith 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Warriors top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Scottsburg pulled out a pair of three-set wins to hand Jennings County a 4-1 defeat.

Cody St. John and Briar Davis beat Ethan Mullins and Cole Atha 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for the lone point for the Panthers (4-6).

Jennings’ Weston Miller fell to Camden Jones 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Thomas Schuler lost to Mark Hays 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and Wyatt St. John fell to Malachi Carr 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Justin Gasper and Kent Biehle lost to Caden Cox and Jordan Smith 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Lancers fall to Owls

SEYMOUR — Edinburgh won at No. 2 doubles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss at Seymour.

Parker Bryant and Bryce Burton beat Trey Hohenstreiter and Pablo Jimenez 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles to give the Lancers (1-7) their lone point.

Edinburgh’s Coltan Henderson fell to Adam Berry 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Ryan Gaston lost to Isaac Hardin 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and the Owls won by forfeit at No. 2 singles. The Lancers’ Gabe Wilson and Brayden McManaway fell to Sam Schmidt and Will Rinehart 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Lancers fall in five

GREENSBURG — Edinburgh battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the match at two sets apiece, but North Decatur claimed a 25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 16-25, 15-11 victory.

The Lancers fell to 5-12 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference.

Cubs sweep Trinity

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran came close in the first set, but Madison claimed a 28-26, 25-18, 25-19 victory.

Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars (8-9) with six kills, while Chloe Criswell pounded four kills and Sydney Jaynes added three kills. Bailey Reynolds and Abby Schult each served two aces.
