IUPUC fundraisers next week for hurricane assistance

IUPUC staff and students are sponsoring three events on campus next week to raise money to benefit people affected by the hurricanes in Texas and Florida.

Money raised by the Faculty Senate, Staff Council, Mental Counseling Program and Psychology Club students will be donated to the American Red Cross and earmarked for the deployment of a licensed mental health professional to the disaster zone for a nine-day tour of duty.

The money will pay to transport, house and provide food for the individual, who may be from any area in the United States.

The following is the schedule of fundraising events.

Penny Wars, Monday through Friday: A red bucket will be placed in every division on campus and each department will have a friendly competition to raise money.

Bake Sale, Tuesday: Donated items will be sold from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Campus Center building in the lobby outside the Division of Education.

Pancake Breakfast, Thursday: Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Campus Center building in the lobby outside the Division of Education. A $3 donation is requested.

The university will announce its fundraising results on Friday, including what comes in during a “Fill the Bucket” campaign during a faculty convocation.
