Fire destroys local home

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in St. Louis Crossing.

Clifford Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire at 6621 E. Gambold St. at 1:27 a.m. Saturday.

The single-story home’s occupant, Nancy Jackman, was not at home at the time, and no injuries occurred, but firefighters needed five hours to extinguish the fire, and twice had to put out hot spots later in the day, said Clifford Fire Chief Charlie Moore.

He described the home as a total loss and damage to be about $90,000. The cause is undetermined, Moore said.
