Kate Alyssa Beckley, 18, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:41 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, in Brown County as a result of a traffic accident.

Kate was formerly of Aurora, Illinois, where she attended Aurora Christian School.

A graduate of Columbus East High School in 2017, Kate was attending Indiana University and Community Church of Columbus.

Kate was bright, loving, and creative. She brought positivity and excellence to her passions, which included art, music, and tennis. She had a special empathy for others, which left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She was patient and kind. She strove to do the right thing, even when it was hard.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Community Church of Columbus with Dr. Tom Taylor officiating.

Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 9 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Kate was born May 23, 1999, in Geneva, Illinois. She was the daughter of Jim G. and Kim A. Niedermeyer Beckley.

Survivors include her mother, Kim Beckley of Columbus; her father, Jim Beckley of Australia; brothers, Spencer James Beckley and Jack Patrick Beckley, both of Columbus; grandmother, Nena Beckley of Chicago; aunts and uncles, Robin (Clark) Holland of Columbus, Peach Beckley of Chicago, Sara Beckley of San Francisco, CA and Michael (Ana) Beckley of Falls Church, VA.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lewis Niedermeyer, Irma Braun and James Beckley.
