Bull Dogs, Olympians can meet in soccer sectional finals

A Columbus East-Columbus North sectional final is a possibility on both the boys and girls sides of the next week’s tournaments.

The Olympians and Bull Dogs are on opposite sides of the draw in the Seymour boys and East girls sectional brackets. The girls sectional will be played at the Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

The 3A No. 20 East boys will play No. 17 Floyd Central at 6 p.m. Oct. 2 in the opening round of the seven-team Seymour Sectional. North will play New Albany at 5 p.m. Oct. 3, followed by Seymour taking on Jeffersonville at 7 p.m.

The East-Floyd Central winner will play Jennings County in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Oct. 4, followed by Tuesday’s winners meeting at 7 p.m. The final will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 7.

In the Class 3A East girls sectional, Whiteland will play Center Grove at 5 p.m. Oct. 3, followed by No. 9 North taking on Greenwood at 7 p.m. The winners will meet in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Oct. 5, followed by East meeting Franklin at 7 p.m. The final will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 7.

The Brown County boys will play Beech Grove in the opening round of the Class 2A Monrovia Sectional. Brown County’s girls received a first-round bye in the 2A West Vigo Sectional and will meet Edgewood in the semifinals.

In Class A, The Hauser boys drew a bye in the Indianapolis Lutheran Sectional and will play Morristown in the semifinals. Trinity Lutheran will face the host school in the first round of the Class A Christian Academy of Indiana Sectional.

The Jennings County girls will play Bedford North Lawrence in the opening round of the Floyd Central Sectional.
