Kids get up-close look at city vehicles

Family School Partners, a part of Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp., is sponsoring Touch A Truck at Clifty Park on Oct. 4.

The event, which the group has sponsored since 1996, invites children age 5 and younger to explore more than 30 vehicles that serve the community, including trucks, front-end loaders, helicopters, police cars, fire trucks and more. The preschoolers are allowed to get into the vehicles, honk their horns and play with the steering wheel during the event.

The event is supported through the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department and the Columbus Department of Public Works. More than 30 vehicles will be at the event from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
