Jenny’s Picks – October 5

1) As I chide my parents for having moved to hurricane central — that is southwest Florida — it would serve me well to remember that disasters happen even in safe ol’ Indiana. I can get that reminder at “Indiana Disasters” today through Nov. 8 at the Bartholomew County Historical Society, 524 Third St., Columbus. The exhibit is part of the Indiana Historical Society’s Traveling Exhibit Program. Information: 812-372-3549.

2) If you don’t yet have your tickets for Foundation For Youth’s Great Girls, Wonderful Women luncheon, at 405 Hope Ave. in Columbus, be sure to get them soon. Set for noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24, the luncheon, now in its third year, gives the “wonderful women” of Columbus the opportunity to support some of FFY’s “great girls.” Proceeds from the event benefit the Foundation For Youth Scholarship Fund and will provide girls with the opportunity to participate in FFY programming, even if registration fees are a barrier for their family. Tickets are $75. For more information, call 812-348-4558 or visit foundationforyouth.com.
