More than 1,200 kids — the highest participation level in its five-year history — crossed the finish line in the event at Mill Race Park on Sept. 22, the night before the Mill Race Marathon.

Winning schools were:

Large school: Richards Elementary School, first; Parkside Elementary School, second.

Medium school: Columbus Signature Academy — Fodrea, first; St. Peter’s Lutheran School, second.

Small school: ABC Stewart, first; Columbus Signature Academy — Lincoln, second.

Preschool: First Presbyterian Preschool, first; Learning Tree Preschool (First United Methodist Church), second.

The elementary school challenge awards a $500 Hoosier Sporting Goods gift certificate to first-place schools and a $250 Hoosier Sporting Goods gift certificate for second place.

A separate preschool challenge awards a $200 Hoosier Sporting Goods gift certificate for first place and $100 gift certificate for second place.

Winning schools are determined by the percentage of children crossing the finish line based on school enrollment numbers.
