Jeffery L. Sneed

Jeffery Lynn Sneed, 62, of Hope, died Friday, October 6, 2017, at Eskenazi Health.

Jeff was retired from Columbus Fire Department and served as a fireman from July 1985 to January 2015. He was currently working part-time at 7k Farms. He worked construction and built many houses and buildings in the area with his family.

Jeff was proud that he currently still holds the record for most points in a high school basketball game in the county when he made 51 points during a game in 1973.

Jeff enjoyed fishing. He previously played on a bowling team and was an avid softball player.

Born on July 22, 1955, in Columbus, Jeff was the son of Jack and Bertha Renner Sneed. He married Dorinda Nicholas on November 7, 1981, and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Bertha; children, Jamie Ryan (Michelle) Sneed of Beech Grove, Ryan Michael (Anna) Sneed of Indianapolis, and Leah (Dane) Konetzka of Columbus; grandchildren, James, Jordan, Olivia, Sebastian, and Ava, all of Beech Grove, Mavric Sneed of Indianapolis, and Isla Konetzka of Columbus; brothers, David Sneed and Mark Sneed, both of Hope; four nieces; several great-nieces and -nephews; and several cousins.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father and brother, Gary Wayne Sneed.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home. Viewing will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Firemen’s Cheer Fund.
