Marsh gallery marks eighth annual open house

The eighth annual October Open House and Weekend Exhibition at the Charlene Marsh Studio and Gallery, northwest of Nashville, is this weekend.

The oil painter will exhibit new paintings and demonstrate her techniques during the open house, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Guests may tour the grounds and gardens at 4013 Lanam Ridge Road. Refreshments will be served.

Watercolor artist featured at art guild for October

Watercolor artist Rena Brouwer will collaborate with pianist Cheryl Kaldahl for a music and painting exhibition at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14,

A reception for Brouwer, the featured artist for October, will follow, from 5 to 8 p.m. Both events, at the Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Brouwer, of Delphi, has taught watercolor at state and nationwide venues, painting for more than 40 years. In 2014, she collaborated with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra and conductor Nicholas Palmer, painting onstage to the music of Debussy.

The art guild is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays; and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays during October.

Family Treasures exhibition, sale starts this month

More than 30 paintings will be included in an exhibition and sale of early Indiana art from a Chicago collection. The Brown County Art Gallery will host a preview Oct. 18 to 20, with the sale opening at 2 p.m. Oct. 21. Featured paintings in a range of prices will remain on sale through the end of the year.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Sundays.
