Girl Up! program at high school to promote STEM

Science, technology, engineering and math will be the focus of an event for fifth- and sixth-grade female students at Columbus North High School.

The event, Girl Up!, will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in North’s main entrance. It will feature STEM activities led by Cummins, community volunteers and high school students from North and also Columbus East High School. Those who attend will participate in activities involving robotics, crime scene investigations, welding, engineering and more.

Each girl also will receive a T-shirt and a bag filled with STEM items and activities, while parents and guardians will be invited to an information session in the school cafeteria beginning at 9 p.m. The event is free, but a registration form must be filled out by visiting tinyurl.com/girlup2017.
