COLUMBUS
James Alan “Jim” Land, 64, of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:41 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department.
Jim was born April 28, 1953, in Elizabethtown, Indiana, the son of Norval H. and Vera Verniece Robertson Land. Jim married Sally J. Long September 7, 1974.
Jim was a 1971 graduate of Columbus High School.
Jim was a maintenance technician at Cosco Inc which later became Dorel Juvenile Group retiring in 2016 after 38 years of service.
Jim cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and he had a passion for muscle cars, going to cars shows, and going to Harbor Freight.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sally; his sons, Jason Land and his wife, Michelle Jacks of Columbus and Joshua Land of Columbus; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alexis, and Zoey Land; his sisters, Judy Rogers of Westport, Indiana and Janie Fields of Columbus; and sisters-in-law, Susan Luse of Lebanon, Indiana and Jane Sinclair of Eloy, Arizona.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jeff and Gene Land; and many aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Marcus D. Speer officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
