Police: No injuries after shots fired on east side

Columbus police are investigating a report of shots fired on Smith Street on the city’s east side.

A description of the car involved in the incident was broadcast to officers at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. An estimated four to five shots were reported to have been fired in the incident.

The car pulled out in front of a Columbus police officer shortly after that broadcast and was stopped at State and Mapleton streets on the city’s east side, Harris said.

No injuries were reported.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. buses were cleared to begin dropping off students at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday as the investigation continued.

No further details were immediately available, Harris said.
