Carol Ruby Kyle Wilson

Carol Ruby Kyle Wilson, 94, of Westport, passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus. She was born on December 26, 1922 in German Township of Bartholomew County, the daughter of Roy & Hattie (Russell) Kyle. She was the 7th child of 10 and the last to die. They were a very close knit family, they would get together several times a year. She grew up in the old union neighborhood and belonged to the Old Union Christian Church. She later joined the Sardinia Baptist Church after moving to Decatur County, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, deaconess and member of the Mission Circle. She graduated from Columbus High School and has been a Westport resident since 1949.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and read her Bible every day. Her grandchildren remember her making homemade noodles, yeast rolls, squash pie, cold pack sausage & gravy when they came home for visits. They remember making sugar cookies with her with special shapes. She would also make homemade candy at Christmas. She was quite a seamstress and made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She would also use scraps and remnants to make clothes for dolls and animals.

She married Owen Wilson in Columbus, on January 11, 1946. He survives, along with their children, Beverly (Herb) Behrman of Columbus and Mark Owen (Viv) Wilson of Lexington, Indiana; grandchildren, Dr. Annette Behrman (Husband, Michael Witschke) and Michael Behrman, both of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Forrest, Allen Dale & Maurice Kyle; sisters, Ruth Whitehorn, Dorthy Ritchison, Nell Boswell, Mary Tenney, Reba Manion and Margaret Steep.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Rust officiating.

Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
