NORTH VERNON — A North Vernon man appears to have died from an early morning mobile home fire, Jennings County authorities said.
The body of Matthew Loper, 32, was found inside his home after the fire, reported at 4:28 a.m. Thursday, was extinguished, said Lt. Mike Mowery, Jennings County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
The fire was reported at 2910 E. County Road 200N in North Vernon, where Loper lived, Mowery said.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Indiana State Police were asked to assist in the investigation of the fire and death of Loper, he said.
An autopsy has been arranged and the investigation is ongoing, Mowery said.
