Police arrest man on warrants after scuffle in local home

Columbus police used a taser to subdue a man after a scuffle with him inside a local home.

Columbus Police Officer Travis Harbaugh saw a man acting suspiciously near a home in the 900 block of California Street at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Harbaugh identified the man as Donald L. Estes, 38, Columbus and confirmed he had multiple warrants for his arrest, Harris said.

Estes went into the residence when Harbaugh approached and once officers were inside the home, Estes refused to take his hands out of his coat pockets, Harris said. A struggle ensued between the officers and Estes and a taser was used when arresting him, Harris said.

Estes was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of three warrants for conversion and resisting law enforcement.
