Chautauqua speakers come to Greensburg

Susan Bro, president and co-founder of the Heather Heyer Foundation, which is dedicated to honoring the civil rights activist who was killed Aug. 12 in Charlottesville, Virginia, will be the featured speaker during the Greensburg Chautauqua.

Bro will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at Greensburg Community High School, 1000 E. Central Ave., in a program hosted by Greensburg U.S. History teacher John Pratt.

Other guests Thursday include: Sonia Levitin, Holocaust survivor and best-selling young adult author; Sam Maharin, Japanese-American internment camp survivor; Academy Award-nominated actress Mary Badham (for her role as Scout in “To Kill a Mockingbird”); Marguerite Mishkin, hidden survivor of the Holocaust; and and Capt. Jamiel Altaheri, first Yemeni-American to attain the rank of captain with the New York City Police Department.
