Local grower donates to Trees for Troops

Tower Family Christmas Tree Farm, Columbus, has donated Christmas trees to the Trees for Troops project sponsored by the National Christmas Tree Grower’s Association and the Christmas Spirit Foundation.

Today is the kickoff load date for the Indiana Christmas Tree Growers Association campaign, said Ed Tower of Tower Family Christmas Tree Farm.

This year’s state goal is to donate 250 trees to troops stationed in Afghanistan, Guam and Guantanamo Bay. Since its 2005 founding, the national program has donated 191,000 trees to U.S. bases overseas and stateside, with FedEx picking up shipping costs, Tower said.
