Turning Point launches campaign

Turning Point Domestic Violence Services has joined Giving Tuesday, the sixth annual global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year Nov. 28, Giving Tuesday is conducted annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, also following two widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Giving Tuesday works to inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

Any Giving Tuesday donation to Turning Point Domestic Violence Services will go directly to the agency’s Raise Our Roof campaign. This campaign seeks to raise funds to replace the roofs on both the agency’s emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and its Transitional Housing unit.

Organizers said the campaign is possible because of the support of Dave and Jo McKinney, who are matching all donations up to $25,000.

Dave McKinney, president of Reams Asset Management in Columbus, has been involved with Turning Point for nearly 20 years and was a member of its board of directors from 2006 to 2016, serving as board chairman in 2013-14. His wife, Jo McKinney, has worked in fundraising and organizational efforts, such as being an adviser to the annual Dance Marathon fundraiser, organized by Columbus area high school students and other volunteers.
