Deloris Miles

NORTH VERNON

Deloris Miles, 89, of North Vernon passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, at her residence.

Born August 11, 1928, in Carter County, Kentucky, Mrs. Miles was the daughter of Alvin and Arlena Patton Manning. She married Tom Miles on June 21, 1948, in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2012.

Mrs. Miles worked as the secretary/treasurer for North Vernon Elementary, Vernon Elementary and Brush Creek Elementary Schools. She was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon. Mrs. Miles enjoyed traveling and sewing.

Mrs. Miles is survived by daughters, Deloris A. (Randy) Rieckers, Debbie (Bill) Monday and Ruth Ann (Randy) Roberson, all of North Vernon; brother, Keith (Judy) Manning of Madison; sister, Maxine Bishop of Wilkerson; grandchildren, Joye Amis, Dee (Jon) Ponsler, Billy Monday, Rick (Robin) Monday, Brad (Dena) Monday, Sam (Wendy) Combest II, and Sheena (Mike) Forney, all of North Vernon and Zac (Kris) Roberson of Columbia, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Andrea Amis, Alex (Randall Genda) Amis, Chris Ponsler, Kolton Combest, Karlie Combest, Aleah Combest, Paisley Bragg, Kaylin Bragg, Lori Monday, Scotty Monday, Troy Monday, Jackson Chipman, Jonathan Monday, Taylor Monday, Rachel Monday, Thomas Forney, Wyatt Forney and Alysa Exum, all of North Vernon, Gary D. (Jessica) Amis of Holton, Zach Jr. Roberson and Gabe Roberson, both of Crothersville and Piper Roberson of Columbia, Missouri; great-great-grandchildren, Addiesyn Jackson and Ryliegh Genda, both of North Vernon and Jacob Arnholt of Holton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Carl, Vaughn, Donald, James, Ralph and Kenneth Manning and sister, Catherine Jefferies.

A funeral service for Mrs. Miles will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017, at the First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon with the Rev. Phil Edwards officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Church. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Church of the Nazarene or Alzheimer’s Association.
