The following government entities have announced closings for the Thanksgiving holiday.
- All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle branches will be closed Thursday and Friday. Branches resume regularly scheduled business hours on Saturday. For a list of branch locations and hours, or to complete an online transaction, visit myBMV.com.
- The Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District Office, the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center, both located at 720 S. Mapleton St., and the Bartholomew County Landfill, 811 E. County Road 450S, will be closed Thursday. The solid waste district management office and recycling center will also be closed Friday. The landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. For more information: 812-376-2614.
- Bartholomew County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.
- City of Columbus offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.
- No city services such as trash, compost, recycling and brush collections will be performed on Thursday. Those collections will run one day behind in Columbus, with Thursday’s collections on Friday, and Friday’s collections on Saturday. Loose leaf collection will resume on Monday.
- The Columbus City Utilities Office will be closed Thursday and Friday. Regular business hours will resume Monday at 8 a.m. Customers with a problem with water or sewer service should call the business office at 812-372- 8861 and follow the prompts.
