Barbara Jean Dasovich

COLUMBUS

Barbara Jean (Rose) Dasovich began her dash through life in Bourbon County, Kentucky on June 17th 1932 and it ended in Columbus, lndiana on November 22nd, 2017. She was the first born of nine children to Maurice and Bernice Rose. She was a 1951 graduate of Charlestown H.S. On November 9, 1963, she married the love of her life, Joe Dasovich.

Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and Nana. Family was always first in her life. For several years, she organized the Rose Family Reunion. She enjoyed gardening, target shooting with Joe, bowling, and playing golf at Otter Creek.

Giving back to the community was very important to Barbara. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for several years. She was an active volunteer in the schools her children attended, Smith Elementary, Central and Columbus East. After her children graduated, the time she spent at Joy Howe helping at-risk youth find direction in their lives was very special to her. She spent many Christmas seasons supporting the Fire Department Cheer Fund by cleaning and dressing donated dolls.

She was a proud member of the Mudlarks Garden Club, where she was an award winning floral arranger and judge. She could often be found pulled off on the side of the road cutting cattails or other interesting flowers for her arrangements. She thoroughly enjoyed participating with the Mudlarks maintaining the Bartholomew County Courthouse flower beds, their Christmas wreath and grog parties, and also the houseboat trips to Kentucky.

Barbara was very strong in her faith. She was active in several ministries with St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Barbara loved to travel. One of her most memorable trips was to Scotland with her mother and daughter to explore her Rose Clan genealogy. She also loved to shop. There wasn’t a mall, country store or “sale” she couldn’t help but to stop in and see what hidden treasures she could find.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Joe, as well as brothers Grover (Pete) and Michael.

Leaving behind to carry on her love of life and outgoing spirit are her children and their families, her son Paul (Margie) Dasovich, Kyra, Sean, Maris, and her daughter Mary (Dave) Moody, Katie and Amy. Also surviving are her brother Maurice Jr. (Sonny) and sisters Joan, Karen, Linda, Sally and Carol.

Calling will be at Myers-Reed Chapel on Sunday, November 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM followed by a rosary service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church on Monday, November 27th at 10:00 AM.

ln lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable contributions be made to Four Seasons Employee Cheer Fund, Our Hospice of South Central lndiana, or St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
