Kenneth D. Newkirk, 64, of Columbus, died on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 8:22 p.m. at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mr. Newkirk retired after 38 years at Product Engineering Co. as a tool and die maker.

He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and The Ridge and was a member of the Gold Wing Association.

He was an amazing carpenter, the third generation in his family and enjoyed woodworking. He loved traveling, spending time with his family, and riding his motorcycle with his wife.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Mark Teike officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and also from 4 p.m. to time of service on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be given to Medullary Thyroid Cancer Research.

In keeping with Mr. Newkirk’s wishes cremation will follow.

Kenneth was born on June 23, 1953 the son of Clarence and Evelyn Kelley Newkirk.

On April 28, 1973 in Seymour he married the love of his life and best friend, Jackie S. Brewer.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jackie S. Newkirk; daughters, Stacie (Jamey Richter) Newkirk Hertenstein of Fishers and Melissa (Jack) Newkirk Booth of Fairfield, Ohio; Grandchildren, Myles Hertenstein, Taia Hertenstein, Owen Hertenstein, Nikhil Richter, Zoei Richter, Tyler Booth, and Landon Booth; brother, Michael (Sheryl) Newkirk of Seymour; and mother-in-law, Betty Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Sister, Jean Franke; and father-in-law, Harold Brewer.
