East sweeps Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE — The Columbus East boys and girls swept Shelbyville Thursday night. The Olympians came from behind at the end to win the boys meet 94-88 and cruised to a 112 1/2 – 66 1/2 victory in the girls meet.

Whitley Eicher won the 100-yard butterfly (1 minute, 1.97 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.51), Lizzy Frazier took the 100 freestyle (58.02) and 100 backstroke (1:09.44) and Jennifer Utterback captured the 200 individual medley (2:28.77) and 500 freestyle (5:52.55) to lead the East girls.

Anna Andress won the 50 freestyle (29.07), and Maggie Gregory took the diving competition (179.00). Frazier, Eicher, Andress and Utterback captured the 200 freestyle (1:49.39) and 400 freestyle (4:05.85) relays.

Evan Weineke led the East boys with wins in the 200 freestyle (2:01.55) and 500 freestyle (5:34.50). Griff McGaha took the 50 freestyle (23.54), DJ Rhodes captured the diving (215.50) and Ryan Singer won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.49). Weineke, Bryce Eckelman, McGaha and Singer took the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.93).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tigers top Cougars

CROTHERSVILLE — South Decatur was tied with Crothersville early in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers took control for a 50-37.

Taylor Best led the Cougars (1-7) with 19 points. Madison Owens grabbed 16 rebounds.
