A local man died after his truck collided with a tree west of the Columbus city limits.
The Bartholomew County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Brian L. Stevens, 54, of Columbus.
The accident at State Road 46 near Tipton Lakes Boulevard was reported at 8:12 a.m. Monday, Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers said.
Stevens was the sole occupant of the 2012 Dodge Ram truck that collided with a tree on the north side of the highway, Nolting said.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies said they are investigating whether the accident happened late Sunday night or early Monday morning, believing the truck had been there for some time before the accident was reported, Myers said.
Stevens had trauma to the chest, but official cause of death is pending toxicology results, the coroner said.
