The tax bill that was just passed (along party lines) contains a provision to eliminate the deduction that teachers now enjoy for spending up to $250 a year out of their own pockets for classroom supplies. The fact is most teachers spend much more than that, and this measure by the GOP will not stop them.
As a matter of fact, I say it’s time to actively support education and send your child’s teacher a little something to spend on their classroom. Maybe we should even declare a “Support Your Local Teacher Day” in Columbus. With the GOP’s war on teachers, they are going to need all the help they can get.
