A Columbus police officer used a stun gun to arrest a local man wanted on multiple warrants after he fled during a traffic stop.
Officer Lukas Nibarger stopped a vehicle driven by Nicholas M. Richey, 22, Columbus at 1:45 a.m. Thursday near 17th Street and McClure Road, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
When Nibarger approached the vehicle, he noted that Richey seemed visibly nervous, Harris said. Officers determined Richey had given them a false name and asked him to get out of the vehicle, Harris said.
As Richey stopped out, he quickly shut the car door and began fleeing from officers, Harris said. Richey eventually fell after officers used the stun gun and was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement, false informing and the four arrest warrants.
