- Post offices nationwide will be closed Christmas Eve on Sunday, and New Year’s Eve on Dec. 31. Post offices will be open during regular operating hours on Tuesday and Jan. 2. Blue collection boxes are not serviced on Sundays and that will be the case on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve this year. Regular collections will be made on Saturday and Dec. 30. The Christmas Day and New Year’s Day federal holidays will be observed on Monday and Jan. 1. Post offices will be closed on those days and only Priority Mail Express packages will be delivered. All post offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume after the holidays on Tuesday and Jan. 2.
- Columbus city offices will be closed Friday and Monday in observance of the Christmas holiday and Dec. 29 and Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Trash and recycling pickup will be one day later than normal due to the holidays.
- There will be no Columbus city trash collection on Monday or Jan. 1. Collections will be delayed one day each of those weeks with Friday’s collections on Saturday. There will be a normal schedule on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
- Bartholomew County Courthouse and administrative offices will be closed on Friday and Monday for the Christmas holiday and Dec. 29 and Jan. 1 for New Year’s.
- The Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District office will be closed on Friday and Dec. 29, with the recycling center and landfill open. On Saturday and Dec. 30 the recycling center will be closed and the landfill will be open. All locations are closed on Monday and Jan. 1. The Harrison and Petersville convenience stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 30.
- The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles will be closed Saturday through Tuesday in observance of the holiday. Branches resume regularly scheduled business hours on Dec. 27. Branches will also be closed Dec. 30 through Jan. 1 and resume regular business hours on Jan. 2. For more information, visit myBMV.com.
- Rumpke trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day next week, starting Monday, and the week of Jan. 1, because of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Customers with Monday collection will be serviced on Tuesday both weeks, Tuesday customers will be collected on Wednesday and so forth. Normal collection resumes the week of Jan. 8.
