Woman recognized with inaugural honor for work in Duck Splash

The Meridian Kiwanis Club has honored Victoria Griffin with its inaugural Support of Children Award.

Club President Doug Stender presented Griffin with the award Dec. 21 at the club’s last meeting of the year for 2017.

The Kiwanis motto is “Serving the Children of the World.” The club does this through its annual Kiwanis Incredible Duck Splash, by sponsoring Key Clubs at Columbus East and Hauser high schools, the Aktion Club of Bartholomew County, the Kiwanis Key Leader Program and by supporting Soles for Santa, Undies for Everyone and Book Buddies, among other initiatives. The club also supports Riley Children’s Hospital and the Three Wishes campaign and works to eliminate iodine deficiency disorders and maternal and neonatal tetanus.

Griffin was recognized for her support of the Duck Splash, and her support of many community causes, including the Race 2 Play project supported by the Meridian Kiwanis Club. She also is active in serving on several boards which serve youth, including the Parks and Recreation Foundation, the Heritage Fund and the Columbus Area Arts Council.
