Services and studies

First Baptist — The Rev. Dan Cash will deliver the message, “Divine Appointments,” during the 9:30 a.m. Christmastide service Sunday at the church, 3300 Fairlawn Drive. Scripture will include Luke 2:22-40. Sunday school classes will begin at 10:45 a.m. following Coffee Fellowship. Child care will be available on the lower level. The service will be streamed live at Sunday.streams.com/go/fbccolumbus or fbccolumbus.org/WP/sermons.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Later that day, the Hannah Circle of American Baptist Women will meet at 2 p.m.

Flintwood Wesleyan — A breakfast prepared and served by the men of the church will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 5300 25th St., followed by a combined worship service at 10 a.m. led by the Rev. Wes Jones. All evening activities will be dismissed.

The women’s study group, Connections, meets the second and fourth Monday of each month starting Jan. 8.

Westside Community — Pastor Dennis Aud will lead the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd. The message will be “A New Way for a New Day,” and feature Scripture from Psalm 101:1-8. The children’s program for ages 5 and younger will meet at the same time as the service. Elementary-age students will join their families in worship.

The church will be having an Epiphany Celebration from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 7. There will be a brief devotion and a fellowship meal. Families are invited to attend together.

First United Methodist — The Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Continuing to Wait,” during the 10 a.m. Unified service Sunday at the church, 618 Eighth St. Scripture will include Galatians 4:4-7 and Luke 2:22-40.

The church will be hosting a women’s Bible study at 11:45 a.m. Mondays starting Jan. 22. The study can be catered to three different levels depending on personal need.

St. Paul’s Lutheran — Pastor Doug Bauman will deliver the sermon, “Signs and Swords,” based on Luke 2:21-40, at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. communion services Sunday at the church, 6045 E. State St.

The Spanish Worship Communion Service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Pastor Juan Luna preaching. At 7 p.m., Pastor Bauman will deliver a sermon, “Epiphany Transferred,” during a New Year’s Eve Communion Service celebrating the Epiphany. Scripture will include Matthew 2:1-12.

Old Union United Church of Christ — The message, “Whose Life Was Changed?,” will be delivered during the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh. Scripture will include Luke 2:16-20 and Matthew 2:9-12. Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m. and fellowship will begin at 9:40 a.m.

Wednesday Bible study resumes in January.

First Presbyterian — Marietta Macy will deliver the sermon during the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at the church, 512 Seventh St. The band Livin’ by Faith will offer music leadership. Infant and toddler care will be available from 9:15 to 11 a.m.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. every Friday. A second men’s support group meets at 6:15 a.m. Mondays.

People in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals program offered at 5 p.m. Friday at the church, with entrance through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

Events

Flintwood Wesleyan — Boy Scout Troop 588 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, 5300 25th St.

GLOW, God Lights Our World, and other Wednesday activities will resume Jan. 10.

First United Methodist — The church will host its fifth annual First Cares, a morning of work both in and for the community, from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 15. There will be multiple activities at the church, 618 Eighth St., and other various locations. All ages are welcome to participate.
