East gymnasts capture Merrillville Invitational
MERRILLVILLE — The sixth-ranked Columbus East gymnasts scored a 109.875 Saturday to win the eight-team Merrillville Invitational. No. 11 Merrillville finished second with a 107.975.
Adi Minor won the vault (9.625), bars (9.65) and finished second on the beam (9.35) and eighth on the floor (9.225) on her way to winning the all-around competition with a 37.85. Taylen Lane won the floor (9.525) and was 11th in the all-around (35.825).
Taylor Gaskill took third on the beam (9.225), tied for fourth on the floor (9.425) and was sixth on the bars (8.85) to finish fifth in the all-around (35.7). Abby Lewis tied for fifth on the beam (8.85) and took seventh on the bars (8.8) and 12th on the floor (8.9) for an eighth-place all-around finish (25.2).
