East students pick up multiple awards at art, writing competition

Students from Columbus East High School received 35 awards from a scholastic art and writing competition at Butler University.

The Gold Key winners from Columbus East were Makenzie Brown, drawing and illustration; Peyton Jessie, painting; Mark Nusterer, ceramics; and Matthew Piatkowski, ceramics.

The Silver Key winners were Zoe Clulow, digital art; Anita Henrichsen, ceramics, Mark Nusterer, ceramics (two silver keys); Alexa Whipker, photography; and Joshua Zamarripa, ceramics.

Honorable mention winners include Makenzie Brown, painting; Zach Butler painting; Zoe Clulow, digital art; Liza Doughty, ceramics, Callie Duncan, photography; Sarah Estes, photography; Luke Harpring, ceramics; Kylie Lopez, painting; Michael McGaha, photography (three honorable mentions); Briaunna Myers, ceramics; Emma Nolting, ceramics; Mark Nusterer, ceramics (two honorable mentions); Elaina Sims, photography; Maddison Uphaus, ceramics; Adrianna Weber, photography (three honorable mentions); Mazey Wilson, photography (two honorable mentions); Joshua Zamarripa, ceramics.

Gold and Silver Key winners will be displayed at the “Vision and Voices” exhibition at Clowes Hall at Butler University in Indianapolis until March 18. An awards ceremony will be conducted at 2 p.m. March 18 at Clowes Hall, 4602 Sunset Ave., with those who attend having the chance to see the student artwork beginning at noon.
