The late U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathon M. Hunter, who will be inducted Saturday into the Columbus East High School Alumni Wall of Fame, served more than three years in the military before his Aug. 2, 2017, death in Afghanistan. His years of military service were incorrect in a front-page news story in Wednesday’s Republic. Hunter will be recognized during a 4:15 p.m. Saturday reception in the lobby off the main entrance of Columbus East High School, with the award presented during halftime of the 4:45 p.m. East boys basketball game against Franklin.
Nobody covers Columbus, Indiana and the surrounding areas like The Republic.
