Commission accepting entries for art, essay contests

The Columbus Human Rights Commission is accepting entries from local students for the J. Irwin Miller Art Contest and the Benjamin M. King Essay Contest.

This year’s theme is “Fair Housing for All.” Students may enter the art contest, the essay contest or both. One winner will be selected for each contest by a panel of volunteer judges in each division in grades five to six, grades seven and eight and grades 9 through 12.

Winners will receive a $75 award, an award-winning book and complimentary tickets to the Human Rights Commission’s annual dinner. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. March 8.

Volunteer judges are also needed to judge the art and essay contests. Those interested in volunteering should contact the commission office by March 9.
