Jenny’s Picks – February 15

1) If you’re like me, winter time has a dearth of physical exercise and a plethora of excuses. You know what I cannot find an excuse for? Pickleball. So, I’ll head over to learn to play pickleball at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays in February at Foundation for Youth, 405 Hope Ave. in Columbus, and noon Fridays and 8 a.m. Saturdays in February at MillRace Center, 900 Lindsey St., Columbus. Wear comfortable clothing and proper footwear. Equipment will be provided. First hour is a lesson, with regular pickleball play afterward. For adults. To  register: juliana.bernabe62@gmail. com. Cost is $10 for three-week clinic at Foundation for Youth, free for Mill Race Center members; $5 drop-in fee applies for facilities. A pass may be purchased for a reduced fee with Mill Race Center registration.

2) When I was quite young, I had a mad scientist kit. This kit enabled me to build monsters from clay and then dissolve them in a vat of Alka Seltzer. My point is this: Kids love to explore in the name of science, hence Donner Center’s Mad Scientists! event, 6:30 p.m. Friday, 739 22nd St., Columbus. Hands-on science fun for the whole family. Cost is $1 per person. No pre-registration required. Snacks will be served. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
