Man accused of dealing meth

A local man was arrested on a charge of dealing in methamphetamine after he was stopped for a minor traffic violation.

Officer Travis Harbaugh stopped a vehicle driven by Jerry D. McInteer, 39, of 71 Reo St., at 7 p.m. Thursday near McKinley Avenue and South Mapleton Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A short time later, officer Jeremy Jones said K9 Max detected the odor of narcotics inside McInteer’s vehicle, Harris said.

Marijuana was found underneath the driver’s seat in the vehicle, Harris said.

McInteer was arrested and officers found a large amount of methamphetamine and more than $3,700 in currency in his clothing, Harris said.

McInteer was being in lieu of $178,500 bond at the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, jail officials said.
