First Christian Church in North Vernon has announced the Rev. Tim Wallingford as its interim minister.
He replaces former senior pastor Anthony Sweeney, who resigned in September.
Wallingford is the director of the Center for Church Leadership and also is a professor in the Graduate Studies Department at Cincinnati Christian University. He has bachelor, master and doctorate degrees from several schools, including Cincinnati Christian University, Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Southern Baptist Seminary and the Emmanuel School of Religion.
“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Wallingford with us. He has more than 40 years experience in the ministry, and his sermons are amazing,” said Angee Leeds, the church’s youth director.
Wallingford will help with the selection of the church’s permanent minister, she added.
