Organist concert set at First Presbyterian

Dale Thomas Rogers, director of music and liturgical arts at North Christian Church in Columbus from 1976 to 1986, will play a free organ concert at 3 p.m. March 11 at First Presbyterian Church, 512 Seventh St.

The program will feature music by Bach, Mendelssohn, Guilmant and a special arrangement of “All the Things You Are” by Jerome Kern, which will also be sung by choir soprano soloist Pam Bolton. An offering will be taken.

Since 1986, Rogers has served as director of music and the arts at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Illinois, where he directs five choirs and oversees a broad variety of decorative arts projects. Rogers served on the music faculty of Illinois Wesleyan, teaching organ and harpsichord. He attended the Royal School of Church Music in Croydon, England, and is a graduate of the first class of the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University. As organist, he has performed with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Illinois Symphony and what is now the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
