• all the stars in the performance of “Annie” at Parkside Elementary School last weekend, and to Mrs. Dell and Mrs. Watts and others who helped for all your hard work.

• the Hope FFA chapter, parents and the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. that hosted the annual District 11 FFA leadership contests for a well-organized, educational meeting and delicious meal Saturday at Hauser High School.

• to Arnold Krause for a great letter to the editor.

• Camila’s Mexican Cuisine for their new artwork featuring local destinations, from YES Cinema.

• the vice president for continuing to support our president in making America great again.

• Hope Veterinary Clinic on State Road 9 for taking good care of my dog, Molly, while she was in their care for three days, and calling to give me an update every day on her progress, from Rodney and Molly.

• The Republic for its thoughtful and intelligent editorial, “Enough,” in Sunday’s paper.

• the kind woman at Kohl’s on Tuesday afternoon who stayed with me while I was sick.

• Kim at Candlelight for the beautiful bouquet of flowers for my 90th birthday, from Estella Brooks

• Anita Gauck for her excellent letter on the Opinion page saying the things that I agree with but was unable to put into words.

• Arnold Krause for your recent letter to the editor, which has total truth that everybody needs to be reminded of.

• Arnold Krause for a well-thought-out letter about gun control and mental illness.

• Arnold Krause for his excellent letter to the editor on March 7, placing blame where blame is due for the Parkland episode and so many others.

• Coop’s Antenna Sales and Service for getting rid of my monthly cable bill and getting me antenna TV.

Onions to …

• letter writers who make up statistics about how many crimes are prevented with concealed guns.

• those who don’t realize downtown restaurants and merchants would appreciate the extra foot traffic that events along their street would bring.

• those not realizing that more teens die every two days from texting and driving than did during the Parkland shooting, and yet we wouldn’t think about banning cellphone use until the kids are 21.

• anyone thinking the vice president would ever do or say anything to displease this White House.

• the people who think they’ll be safe when every man, woman and child in the U.S. owns at least a half dozen AR-15s.

• managers who cannot get workers to come to meetings unless they make them mandatory, which can totally mess up your day off.

• the business that is afraid of competition from out of town.

• people who still don’t understand that a rifle can’t assault someone.
