COLUMBUS, Ind. — The lights at the Bartholomew County Courthouse will be turned to blue tonight through Sunday night as a tribute to slain Boone County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Jacob Pickett.

That decision was made by the Bartholomew County Commissioners, county administrator Tina Douglas said.

Pickett was shot Friday in Lebanon while helping pursue a man wanted on an arrest warrant who had fled with two others. Afterward, Pickett was placed on life support for donation of his organs. The deputy, who was a married father of two young children, died Monday, Boone County Sheriff Mike Nielsen reported.

Pickett’s funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg.
