Betty J. Ison, 72, of Columbus, passed form this life at 12:36 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Ison retired from the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in 1999 after 30 years of service.
She was of the Baptist faith.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Glenn Poynter and David Ison officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Betty was born December 5, 1945 in Bartholomew County. She was the daughter of William M. and Lillian F. Byrd Ballard.
She married Donald O. Ison on July 17, 1963.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 55 years; a daughter, Farriletta (Timothy) Whited of Hartsville; son, Anthony (Dalisay) Ison of Columbus; granddaughters, Falicia Whited of Columbus and Savannah Ison of Columbus; a brother, Gary (Debbie) Ballard of Hope; and a sister, Brenda Darlene Villa of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Clifton Ballard and Charles T. Ballard Sr.
