NORTH VERNON — Registration for two student programs begins this week at the First Christian Church in downtown North Vernon.
First Christian Youth Director Angee Leeds announced registration for the summer’s child care program known as “Summer Rock” and also the preschool program for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Summer Rock program, from May 23 to Aug. 6, is a summertime childcare program designed for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program begins at 5:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited.
“This will be a very active program, with children taking field trips to local parks, weekly swimming, watching movies at our local theaters, making crafts and playing games,” Leeds said.
Cost is $80 per child per week, which includes on-site snacks and lunches each day. Registration must be submitted by May 22.

The church’s preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds is offered two days a week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
During the program, children ages 3 and 4 participate together during much of the program but a separate class is offered for 4-year-olds to prepare them for kindergarten. Children must be age 3 or 4 by Aug. 1 to participate.
